Most hosts will advertise a 99%, 99.5% or even 99.9% uptime guarantee. What does this mean to you as a customer? Well a 99.9% uptime guarantee means your service can be down for up to 43 minutes per month (due to system failure, not maintenance downtime) before you can claim a refund for the downtime. Usually you are only able to claim for service downtime over this 43 minute guarantee, and if you work out how much your tariff works out at per hour refunds can often work out at only a few pence!
We are different. We do not offer an uptime guarantee. Every provider has some down time – servers fail, networks fail, but we guarantee our customers that we will do everything within our power to keep your service on-line. We plan redundancy into our hardware and our network, and should failure occur we guarantee to work as quickly as possible to being your service back on-line.
We also promise to be completely transparent, giving customers access to our independent server monitoring platform so they can view our service uptime for themselves. In the event of downtime we provide opt-in free email and SMS updates and make incident reports available on request.
