Q?I have a project which requirea a non-standard set up. Can you help?
A.

Of course! We can build a solution to your requirements with features such as format transcoding, multiple source switching and backup stream support. Get in touch and we’ll help you out.

Q?Do your fees include music licensing?
A.

No. You will need to organise your own licenses. UK broadcasters will need to obtain licenses from PRS and PPL. USA broadcasters will need a license from StreamLicensing

Q?Is your service professional grade?
A.

Yes! Numerous FM radio stations use us to provide their Internet stream, and we even provide the connectivity for outside broadcasts, and between studio and FM transmitters for some stations!

Q?What is the AutoDJ?
A.

The AutoDJ is your own virtual DJ running on our servers. You can upload your media to our servers by FTP, create playlists, and organise shows or playlists to play out at certain times and dates.

If you require more powerful automation we also offer hosted Airtime automation.

Q?What is a listener slot?
A.

Each listener connecting to your station requires a listener slot. When they disconnect they release the listener slot leaving it open for another listener. The number of listener slots is the peak number of listeners at any one time.

Q?What about WIFI?
A.

We recommend you avoid using WIFI when you broadcast and always connect your broadcast computer to your router by ethernet cable.

The WIFI frequency spectrum is shared by other devices such as cordless phones and microwave ovens. Interference from these devices as well as other WIFI devices can cause a reduction in speed and lost packets. This can cause problems for all of your listeners. Use a wired connection whenever possible.

Q?Do I need to leave my computer on?
A.

To broadcast live you will need a source to broadcast from. This is usually your own computer. We also provide an AutoDJ facility. The AutoDJ runs on our servers from a media library that you upload to our service. With the AutoDJ running you do not need to leave your computer on as our servers will run your station for you. You can switch between your own live broadcast and AutoDJ whenever you wish.

Q?What equipment do I need to broadcast?
A.

If you don’t want to broadcast live you can upload your media to our servers and let our AutoDJ handle the broadcast for you, with no equipment needed at your end. If you want to broadcast live then you can start with something a simple as a microphone plugged into your computer and some free software such as RadioDJ, PlayIt, Butt or MixTime . Taking things further you could add audio mixers, more professional software or even build a full studio.
