JetBackup is a popular third-party backup solution that many hosting providers install alongside cPanel. It provides automatic daily backups with an easy-to-use interface for self-service restoration. You can restore individual files, databases, email accounts, or your entire account without contacting support.

Please note: Screens and options may vary slightly depending on your cPanel version and hosting plan.

Accessing JetBackup

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Look for JetBackup in the Files section, or search for it using the cPanel search bar.
  3. If JetBackup is not available, your hosting provider may use a different backup solution or may not offer self-service backups.

Restoring Files

  1. In JetBackup, click File Backups (or Home Directory).
  2. Select the backup date you want to restore from.
  3. Navigate to the specific file or folder you want to restore.
  4. Tick the items you want to restore.
  5. Click Restore Selected or Download to either restore to the server or download a copy.

Restoring a Database

  1. Click Database Backups.
  2. Select the database and the backup date.
  3. Click Restore.
  4. JetBackup will restore the database to its state at the selected backup point.

Restoring Email Accounts

  1. Click Email Backups (or Email Accounts).
  2. Select the email account and backup date.
  3. Click Restore.

Restoring Cron Jobs, DNS Zones, and Other Settings

JetBackup may also support restoring:

  • Cron jobs
  • DNS zone files
  • SSL certificates
  • Email forwarders and filters

Check the JetBackup interface for available restore options.

Downloading a Backup

Instead of restoring directly, you can download a copy of the backup:

  1. Select the item and backup date.
  2. Click Download instead of Restore.
  3. The backup will be prepared and a download link provided.

Tips

  • JetBackup retains backups for a limited period (typically 7–30 days, depending on your hosting provider's configuration).
  • Restoring a backup replaces current data with the backup version. Make sure you back up your current state first if there's any data you need to keep.
  • JetBackup queues restore requests. Large restores may take a few minutes to process.
  • If JetBackup isn't available on your account, contact your hosting provider about their backup and restore procedures.
