What is Stream Machine?
Stream Machine gives your broadcast redundancy by running identical copies of your stream on two servers in separate datacenters. If your main server ever goes down, listeners are automatically redirected to the backup — no action needed from you or your audience.
What You Have
Your Stream Machine service includes:
- Two MediaCP control panels — a Primary server and a Backup server. You will have received separate welcome emails with login details for each panel.
- A failover-protected Stream URL — a single URL (e.g.
https://yourstreamname.streammachine.co.uk/stream/yourstreamname) that automatically points listeners to whichever server is active. - A status dashboard — visible in your client area on the service page, showing live status of both servers, listener counts, and failover history.
- Automatic DNS failover — if the primary server becomes unreachable, DNS is updated within seconds to redirect listeners to the backup.
- Manual failover — a button in your client area to switch between servers on demand.
First Steps
- Check your emails — you should have two welcome emails, one for each MediaCP panel. If you haven't received them, check your spam folder or contact support.
- Log in to both panels — links are shown on your service page in the client area. Familiarise yourself with each panel.
- Set up your encoder — configure your broadcasting software to connect to both servers simultaneously. See Broadcasting Live for encoder setup guides.
- Share your Stream URL — give your listeners, TuneIn, website, and apps your Stream Machine URL. They never need to know about the backup — failover is transparent.
