The right column of the compressor provides real-time visual feedback on your audio processing. All displays update at approximately 30 frames per second.
Spectrum Analyser
Shows the frequency content of your output audio across the five compressor bands. Each band is colour-coded and includes peak hold indicators. This helps you see the overall tonal balance of your processed audio at a glance.
Gain Reduction Timeline
A scrolling graph showing how much compression (gain reduction) is being applied to each band over the last 10 seconds. Each band is displayed as a separate coloured trace.
- Flat lines near 0 dB — little or no compression happening in that band
- Deep dips — the compressor is actively reducing the level in that band
- Constant deep compression — the threshold may be set too low, or the ratio too high for that band
This is one of the most useful displays for understanding what the compressor is actually doing to your audio.
Transfer Curves
Shows the compression curve for each band — the relationship between input level and output level. The curve bends at the threshold point, and the bend angle represents the ratio.
A moving indicator on each curve shows where the current input level sits, making it easy to see whether each band is compressing or passing audio through unaffected.
Waveform Scope
A scrolling display showing the left and right input audio amplitude over the last 5 seconds. This helps you see the overall dynamics and level consistency of your input signal.
VU Meters
Vertical bar meters with peak hold indicators appear on the Decoder (input) and each Encoder (output). These show instantaneous audio levels with a brief peak hold to help you spot transients.
- Green — healthy signal level
- Yellow — approaching maximum
- Red — at or near 0 dBFS (clipping danger)
