The Cloud Compressor can integrate with the Hippynet Silence Detector service to monitor your streams for silence or dead air.
What is the Silence Detector?
The Hippynet Silence Detector is a separate monitoring service that continuously checks your audio streams. If silence is detected for a configurable period, it can trigger alerts. The Cloud Compressor displays the status of your monitored streams directly in the rack interface.
Setting Up the Integration
- You need an active Hippynet Silence Detector account
- Click the settings button on the Silence Detector rack unit
- Enter your Silence Detector credentials:
- API URL — the URL of your Silence Detector instance
- Email — your Silence Detector login email
- Password — your Silence Detector password
- Click Test Connection to verify the credentials work
- Save the settings
Monitoring
Once configured, the Silence Detector unit shows:
- Status LED — green when all monitored streams are active, red when silence is detected
- Dot-matrix LCD — shows the stream name and current status
- Audio level meter — displays the current audio level as reported by the Silence Detector
The status is polled every 5 seconds automatically.
Not Using Silence Detection?
If you don't have a Silence Detector account, the Silence Detector unit will simply show "Not Configured" and can be ignored. It does not affect the compressor's operation.
