Viewing Visitor Statistics

cPanel provides built-in tools to see who's visiting your website, how they found you, and which pages they're viewing. These tools analyse your server's access logs to generate reports.

Please note: Screens and options may vary slightly depending on your cPanel version and hosting plan.

Available Statistics Tools

Depending on your server configuration, you may have access to one or more of these tools in the Metrics section of cPanel:

  • Visitors — Shows the most recent 1,000 log entries grouped by IP address, with details of each request.
  • AWStats — Comprehensive web analytics with monthly reports showing visits, pages, hits, bandwidth, search keywords, referrers, and more.
  • Webalizer — Another statistics tool offering graphical monthly summaries of website traffic.
  • Analog Stats — A simple, fast overview of your site's traffic.

Using the Visitors Tool

  1. In the Metrics section, click Visitors.
  2. Select the domain.
  3. The log shows the most recent requests, grouped by IP address, with the URL requested, the HTTP status code, the referrer, and the user agent.

This is useful for quickly checking recent activity and spotting unusual patterns.

Tips

  • Server-side statistics tools count every request (including bots, crawlers, and automated scripts), so numbers will typically be higher than what you see in JavaScript-based analytics tools like Google Analytics.
  • For detailed marketing analytics (bounce rate, user journeys, conversion tracking), consider installing a JavaScript-based analytics tool alongside cPanel's built-in stats.
  • Statistics are generated from access logs, which may be rotated or archived periodically. Historical data may be limited.
